  • Ryan Leslie + RenegadesNYC = New Project?

After a long time of no blogs posts, here’s an update!
For the last 1 or 2 months I’ve been in touch with one of my favorite artists Ryan Leslie on some projects we’re trying to accomplish.

For his #RENEGADES project Ryan was looking for an Instagram feed that placed both video’s and photos added to his Shopify powered storefront.

We’re currently in the process of getting this up and running and next to that I’ve sent some examples to him and his partner that might potentially replace Shopify for his entire artist expierence… Can’t disclose too much about it 😉

Last wednestday on October 30th Ryan attended de Melkweg in Amsterdam where I was fortunate enough to shake hands and have a little chat before he did the concert. Had a great time 😉

To get Ryan Leslie’s latested album titled “Black Mozart”, join the #RENEGADES Club today and get the album FREE!

  • Case study: AskAlexander.org

As i’ve told you in my last blog post, i’ve aqcuired some cool projects on my trip to New York City january one of which is AskAlexander.org. With way too many books ( over 1.5million pages! ) regarding magic, ventriloquism, mentalism, coin magic, card magic, rubber band magic, how-i-can-remove-a-womans-bra-in-seconds magic and so much more it is the ultimate research tool for magicians and people interested in the artform.

Founder Bill Kalush tells you a little bit about the project in this video for EMC 2010:

Bill gave me the challanging task to re-design AskAlexander to be more 2.0ish and to fit the current market better with its design, functionality and the way the site is layed out. More to come…

  • NYC: Visiting The Conjuring Arts Research Center

We emailed about visiting the library but it wasnt sure if that was possible.

  • Visiting New York City!

A little update on the apblog 🙂

Last january I’ve visited NYC with my Mom for the first time to celebrate my 22nd birthday. Staying at the Pennsylvania across Madison Square Garden, the city was at my feet – I knew I had lots to do.
As a magician, visiting a magic-shop was a thing that was madetory – Visiting Fantasma Magic on 7th Ave was one of the coolest expierences ever, even met David Roth!

This january I’m keeping the tradition alive, celebrating my 23rd birthday in NYC with mom! Hit me up if you’re in the area, ill post updates when I know dates 🙂

  • Upgrade: WordPress 3.5

WordPress 3.5 became available in the repository yesterday: http://wordpress.org/news/2012/12/elvin/ – As of today, all customers of aronprins.com have been upgraded to the latest install.

    Cheers, Aron

    A quote from Matt Mullenweg:

It’s the most wonderful time of the year: a new WordPress release is available and chock-full of goodies to delight bloggers and developers alike. We’re calling this one “Elvin” in honor of drummer Elvin Jones, who played with John Coltrane in addition to many others.

If you’ve been around WordPress a while, the most dramatic new change you’ll notice is a completely re-imagined flow for uploading photos and creating galleries. Media has long been a friction point and we’ve listened hard and given a lot of thought into crafting this new system. 3.5 includes a new default theme, Twenty Twelve, which has a very clean mobile-first responsive design and works fantastic as a base for a CMS site. Finally we’ve spent a lot of time refreshing the styles of the dashboard, updating everything to be Retina-ready with beautiful high resolution graphics, a new color picker, and streamlining a couple of fewer-used sections of the admin.

  • Kardistry.com – A little peek

For the last few days i’ve been actively developing Kardistry.com working alongside Dan Buck in the entire process.
It’s been great so far, adding BuddyPress ( BP ) to the installation really helped expanding the DeTube theme’s possibility’s!

For now, we’ve only enabled the Extended Profiles & Account Settings components and the Private Messaging for admins only – this way we can develop the components on a live site 🙂

Moving around the standard BP registration was a challange, as Dan wanted the forms small and compact.
Cheating a little, i used the Bootstrap css to create the dual buttons and add them to the header itself… Need to fix that soon 😉

Currently im eagerly awaiting Dan’s mockups for the messaging component, which will allow the user to im with each other.

Developing a WebApp will also be a big component of the site. We really want to give you guys the best expierence possible on both iPhone, Android, BlackBerry and all other mobile devices out there. Since the site is based on WordPress and BuddyPress, and theme switchers are readily available everywhere… It will be an easy thing to do and make this thing superawesomenesscool!

More info to come soon 😉

  • Smoke & Mirrors – The Final Chapter

A legendary brand of playing cards known across the globe for their style, prestige and excellence.
Instead of releasing just another edition, we’ve reproduced the entire set combining everything we know about printing cards – over five years of experience.
It has been our greatest undertaking to date and we couldn’t be more proud of the result.

    The set is just amazing!

Every detail was reexamined, refined and carefully produced. From the paper stock, to new artwork and even a custom seal that is perforated along the box
crescent to more easily open the cards. Nothing was left out.

    They are perfect.

In the beginning, the Smoke & Mirrors were designed to be a personal deck. They were custom tailored to our taste with original art by Si Scott.
We never imagined they’d be used by so many, let alone the best in the world. For the countdown to the final edition of our Smoke & Mirrors, we partnered with
the best magicians and cardists across the globe to showcase the style, prestige, and excellence that is the Smoke & Mirrors.

  • Coming soon: Smoke & Mirrors V7

Back in 2006/2007, i remember first hearing the rumor of a new decks of cards. Bicycle version 2zillion we all thought, but boy where we wrong.
Dan & Dave, better known as “The Bucktwins” created a deck of cards for personal use but when they saw the light of day… They sold out.

They simply freaking sold out… Just like all their other stuff does… Print boxers – it sells! Lotion? Pff sure! Big square pieces of cardboard with some ink on it, and then even write their signatures on it to make it WORTH MORE! God i love these guys ( i a non-sexually and gay-way 😛 ) !

They’ve been teasing us with updates on facebook & twitter for their newest release – Smoke & Mirrors V7 – The Final Chapter.
    Stay tuned.

    From dananddave.com:
“Developing the Smoke & Mirrors has been our passion for the last six years. We’ve put our heart and soul into every detail and are extremely proud of them. With each new edition, we feel we’ve set a new standard, and this would not have been possible without your support.

The final edition, the v7, is without a doubt the most exceptional deck we’ve ever produced and an epic finale to an amazing chapter in our life. We’ve been working on it for over a year now and even had new artwork produced by Si Scott exclusively for this releas. The result is amazing and we can’t wait for you to see them.”
